Tickets
There is a general word of warning for those purchasing tickets. Tickets should only be purchased from the following three places. If tickets aren't purchased from the following three places, then there is no guarantee that you will be allowed access to the arenas. The tickets could be invalid and might not work.
To be on the safe side, tickets should be bought via the three official means. These are: Ticketek, an official Australian Open Tour Operator or an official Australian Open Hospitality Package. Those that get their tickets on eBay or through unofficial ways have been warned.
There are two types of special ground passes that are available. These are known as the "After 5" and "Any 5 Day" ground pass. The "After 5" ground pass ticket will be available for the 2011 Australian Open. It will provide access to the open from 5.00pm for all sessions between the 17th of January and 22nd of January of 2011.
The "After 5" pass is perfect for those that need to work and includes access to all outside courts. The other kind of special pass is the "Any 5 Day". This will provide access to the Australian Open on any 5 days of the event. This is at a lower cost than buying 5 separate day passes. This kind of ticket cannot be upgraded to a reserved seat at the Hisense Arena or Rod Laver Arena.
There are policies that apply for children and those that are on concession. Children must be of age 3 to 16 as of 1st of January 2011. Those that are under the age of 2 can enter free of charge but must not occupy a reserved seat.
The people that are at age 17 or over must hold a concession ticket or are classed as an adult. Concession card holders must present their relevant documentation upon entry of the event.
Accepted forms of concession are: student, health care, personal treatment entitlement or pensioner cards. Veteran Affairs and TPI are also acceptable.
In conclusion, those looking to watch some live great tennis in the 2011 Australian Open should get their official tickets now.
