Booking Airline Tickets For The Best Deal

When should one book airline tickets to receive the best deal? I was watching television the other day and a short segment on travel specials appeared. I found the program quite interesting and thought I would pass the information on. Of course, I already knew that flying on weekdays is definitely cheaper than on the weekends. Most people are working during the week and therefore are limited to travel on Friday, Saturday and Sundays only. The airlines take advantage of this and raise the prices during those 'peak' days.

Experts say that Tuesday is the preferred day to get those cheap flights, particularly for domestic travel or travel within the same country you are living. Tuesday not only appears to be the best day to book airline tickets, but they say to book right after midnight as well! Why? Well, seat selection is usually plentiful early in the week and therefore prices will be at their lowest. If you are booking on - line, you should try to book your flight at least 3 weeks before the date of the flight.

Subscribe to Airline Newsletters To Save Money

Also a way to keep informed is by subscribing to your favourite airlines e-mail newsletters. Subscribing to newsletters of your choice can prove to be very helpful and save you a lot of money when booking travel. It's definitely a way of keeping up to date and informed on upcoming deals offered by your favourite airline.

Of course, if you're flexible on days, major airlines will generally post prices for individual days before and after your selected travel date. This gives you more choices on flight times and sometimes substantial price savings by choosing a different travel date. I recently had a look at a couple of my favourite airlines and I discovered that Tuesday and Wednesday travel was cheaper than the other days of the week. By conducting further research of websites and airlines on your own time, you can get cheaper flights on Saturdays at specific times and dates. AS well, whether your flight is nonstop, direct or you make more than one stop on route, all play huge factors in the overall price. For example, if you're willing to take that dreaded "red - eye" flight, you can expect to get cheaper fares for the inconvenience of overnight travel.

Travel Tuesdays For Big Savings

I found this quote from a wholesale airline ticket business. This company has been around for many years and they agree that Tuesday is definitely a good day to get some of the best prices for air travel! "When should I buy my airline ticket?" Well, based on years of complex analysis by 'FareCompare', they seem to have the answer to that often asked question. They unanimously agree on Tuesdays for domestic travel and to keep your eyes open for frequent deals and specials offered by the airlines at any given time.

So if you're flexible in your travel dates, then you can most definitely save yourself a great deal of money. If not, then try to pick a Tuesday or travel midweek if at all possible.

Happy travels!
